Boundary Layer Formation in the Quasigeostrophic Model Near Nonperiodic Rough Coasts

چکیده
We study the so-called homogeneous model of wind-driven ocean circulation or 2D quasigeostrophic model. Our attention focuses on performing a complete asymptotic analysis that highlights boundary layer formation along coastal line. assume rough coasts without any particular structure, resulting in nonlinear PDE system for western an infinite domain. As consequence, we look solution nonlocalized Sobolev spaces. Under this hypothesis, eastern exhibits singular behavior at low frequencies far from boundary, leading to issues with convergence. The problem is tackled by imposing ergodicity properties. establish well-posedness governing equations and solution. results generalize ones Bresch Gérard-Varet (Commun Math Phys 253(1):81–119, 2005) periodic irregularities.

Singular front formation in a model for quasigeostrophic flow
A two-dimensional model for quasigeostrophic flow which exhibits an analogy with the three-dimensional incompressible Euler equations is considered. Numerical experiments show that this model develops sharp fronts without the need to explicitly incorporate any ageostrophic effect. Furthermore, these fronts appear to become singular in finite time. The numerical evidence for singular behavior su...
متن کاملIncreasing ozone in marine boundary layer inflow at the west coasts of North America and Europe
An effective method is presented for determining the ozone (O3) mixing ratio in the onshore flow of marine air at the North American west coast. By combining the data available from all marine boundary layer (MBL) sites with simultaneous wind data, decadal temporal trends of MBL O3 in all seasons are established with high precision. The average springtime temporal trend over the past two decade...
متن کاملBoundary Layer Leakage Model
This paper presents a model for gas leakage that takes the development of the velocity profile into account. It includes the physical ideas behind the model, a brief discussion of the mathematical approach and a comparison with experimental data.
متن کاملKinetic dendrite in the boundary-layer model
Within trie boundary-layer model and by taking into account only interface kinetics (isotropic or anisotropic), we find a contmuous set of « kinetic » dendrites. This solution exists at arbitrary supercooling A in the 2Dand 3D-axisymmetric cases and reduces to the usual dendrites with parabolic tails at A ~ l, and « angular » dendrites at A ~ l. In contrast with classical Ivantsov dendrites, th...
